Dr. Ashok Rajgopal is an extremely prolific surgeon, credited with more than 15,000 Arthroscopic and over 50,000Total Knee Arthroplasty surgeries. Dr. Rajgopal has more than 32 years of experience in knee surgery along with vast experience of trauma surgery as well. He was the first Orthopaedic surgeon in India to perform the bilateral procedure and minimally invasive total knee replacement surgery using patient-specific Instruments. He was honored by the Government of India in 2014, by bestowing on him the Padmashri, the fourth highest civilian award, for his services to the fields of orthopedic surgery. He has also been awarded the Dr. BC Roy Award by the Medical Council of India to "Recognize the Best Talents in Encouraging the Development of Specialties in Different Branches in Medicine" for 2014. The Persona Knee. He successfully developed instruments for MIS total knee replacement surgery which were later patented by Zimmer and are used by knee replacement surgeons worldwide. His enduring passion for practicing and advancing medical sciences has seen him win a number of awards.
