Glomerulonephritis

Glomerulonephritis

Glomerulonephritis is an inflammation of the tiny filters in the kidneys called glomeruli. This results in removal of excess fluid, electrolytes, and wastes from the bloodstream and passes them into the urine. Glomerulonephritis can occur either suddenly or progress gradually.

Glomerulonephritis occurs on its own or as part of another disease, such as lupus or diabetes.

Symptoms of Glomerulonephritis

Glomerulonephritis signs and symptoms include the following:

  • Pink or cola-colored urine from red blood cells in your urine called hematuria
  • Foamy urine due to excess protein called proteinuria
  • High blood pressure referred to as hypertension
  • Fluid retention or edema with swelling evident in your face, hands, feet, and abdomen

More About Treatment

Diagnosis of Glomerulonephritis

The first clues are the signs and symptoms. Finding protein and blood cells in the urine is another sign. Blood tests will help the doctor tell what type of illness you have and how much it has hurt the kidneys. In some cases, a test called a kidney biopsy may be needed. In this test, a tiny piece of the kidney is removed with a special needle, and looked at under a microscope. A biopsy will help the doctor plan the best treatment for you.

Patient Stories

  1. My sister was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease at a very young age which was a hard time for our family as a whole. All I wanted to do is try find her a cure at the earliest possible. A colleague of mine recommended India for treatment and we started looking online for the best possible Hospitals and we came across Medtravels. We filled up their query form and within a short time I received a call from their helpdesk, I shared all the reports with them and within a day’s time they provided me with all the necessary details. Medtravels also helped us with Visa Assistance and once we reached India, they ensured that the whole process is an easy ride. There interpreter was also of great help. After a successful surgery in India, my sister is now slowly moving towards the path of a normal life. I can’t thank Medtravels enough for all the help they have rendered to us. For our family, they are boon.
