Cataract surgery is generally a procedure that is done to remove the lens of the eye and often replacing it with an artificial lens. A cataract usually causes the lens to become cloudy which eventually affects the vision. In cataract surgery, the lens inside the eye that has become cloudy is removed and replaced with an artificial lens called an intraocular lens, or IOL to restore clear vision.
