Open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) is a surgery to fix severely broken bones. It is used to fix fractures in the arms and legs, including bones in the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, and ankle. In this procedure, the surgeon makes an incision to re-align the bone through “Internal fixation” wherein the bones are held together with metal pins, plates, rods, or screws.
Although the success rate of ORIF is high, recovery depends mainly on the age, health condition of the patient, post-surgery rehabilitation as well as severity and location of the fracture. ORIF recovery can last 3 to 12 months. You’ll need physical or occupational therapy, pain medication, and lots of rest.

My day to day life started to hamper, due to unbearable back pain and painful limbs. I was scared of surgery as I have never been admitted in a hospital ever before in my life.
